Testimonials  (page 3) I started training with Ron at Street Combatives because I wanted to increase the physical activity in my life to primarily lose weight and regain my strength after several surgeries. I also wanted to do something that served a purpose in everyday life rather then just boring cardio and weights. Ron's courses proved to be just that. He worked with me at the start to ease me into the rigors of the training. Being 50 years old and cautious about my limits after surgery was difficult early on but Ron tailored the training to those limits. Ron also teaches the tactical/practical side of the training which kept the class very interesting and at times even fun. I got stronger, lost weight (70 pounds) and continue to go to class 1 year later actually looking forward to it even though I'm sore the following several days. My ultimate goal is to go to more than 1 class a week and supplement my boring cardio workouts with Ron's more physically demanding and useful training. The training has already proven itself to me once while on vacation in LA. A professional pan handler grabbed my shoulder and demanded (not asked) that I give him some money, probably because I looked like a tourist. He instantly backed down with little effort when I took his hand from my shoulder and worked the wrist as I was taught. Ron has mentioned it and I echo the sentiment that his training is not about sitting around listening to talk or perfecting fancy moves, his training is about winning and surviving which means it will require work, perseverance and pain. In the end you become better for it. More capable of defending yourself and your loved ones and even more confident in life. I highly recommend training with Ron at Street Combatives. I have been attending class with Ron off and on for a while. As a police

officer, this is essential training everyone should have. The scenarios are

real, and they test your physical and mental abilities. Ron is very

knowledge and makes things very easy to understand. I would recommend

this class to everyone from a trained fighter to a complete beginner with no

experience.

Rick D, Police Officer ************************** Ron, Officers Krozel, Chang, and Delavega would like to express our gratitude to Ron Lauinger for having given us the great opportunity to participate in intense realistic Street Combatives training.  Our experience was phenomenal and we gained a lot new knowledge and new techniques that will be extremely valuable to protect ourselves, our loved ones, our fellow officers, and the citizens.  The training was an eye opener in relation to how quickly somebody could hurt you with any sharp/stabbing object if we are not aware of our surroundings, are unprepared for any attack, and lacking the necessary skills to subdue any opponent in order to go home alive.  The techniques became easy to understand and to perform thanks to the way Ron guided the students. The facility is outstanding and very well equipped, allowing the students to train in the most realistic environment.  The other students who participated in this training, along with Ron's regular students were friendly and very helpful.   One of our main goals as police officers is to protect the weak and apprehend any wrong doers. We wouldn't be able to do it without the necessary self-confidence, strength, and special skills.  Ron's training is definitely a great contribution to all that. Ron's remarkable desire to help law enforcement officers to better survive violent attacks is something that deserves recognition. Thank You, Sincerely, Officers Krozel, Chang, and Delavega ************************** I am a 38-year-old police officer.  I have trained for 26 years in karate (Isshin Shorinji Ruy Okinawa Te) and 4 years in combat ju-jutsu.  I have been a police officer for 10 years with training in defensive tactics and recently moved into the area of Schaumburg, IL where I located a local combatives course (Street Combatives) ran by Ron Lauinger who invited me for a two-day knife combatives course.           I took Ron up on his offer and attended his two day, 8 hours a day, Knife Combatives Course.  After a few introductory topics about why we were attending this course we began our journey.  After about 1-2 hours of training, I knew I wanted to come back.  It wasn’t the kind of training where you would win every attack.  This was a learn from your mistakes and receive additional input from Ron.  This wasn’t an environment where your “attacker” avoided making physical contact with you and it definitely wasn’t the environment where you defended yourself non-aggressively.  When you get attacked you strike back.  When you hit back you use a controlled strike but actually make physical contact with your opponent.  This method truly teaches one what it feels like to be distracted by slight contact for training purposes and trains you to react how you should in a fight and not in a training environment.          The knife course, as well as his normal combatives instruction, has been an eye-opening experience.  These simple yet effective techniques that I have never learned in my 30 years of martial arts training, have given me a new sense of confidence against a knife yielding bad guy or a bad guy without a knife.  I feel more confident to end a fight If I were attacked while with my family where I may not be able to run, in my workplace where I may not be able to get to my gun quickly, or if I was in a surprise attack which caught me off guard.            recommend this training to any and all police officers.  I recommend this training to any individual who wants to learn to protect himself/herself.  I recommend this training to any concealed carry licensed personnel.  I recommend this training to men and women.  I recommend this training everyone who will use this for good and not evil.  BUT, don’t come here thinking it will be easy.  Get the right mindset.  Be ready for training.  Be ready for a fight!  Be ready to survive! Officer Driscoll, Aurora Police Department 2018 **************************** The instruction and knowledge is unmatched Ron is nothing short of amazing. It's a shame I live so far away otherwise I would definitely become a fixture in all of his different training opportunities. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING RON.... Officer Tim Woodcock, Corrections 2019 **************************** Hi Ron,  I'm sending you the testimonial for the 2 day knife Combative Course.  Again, was a great class and thank you! Brigit I attended the 2 day Knife Combative Course and I have to say this is hands down a challenging and very well rounded course.  You're exposed to a wide variety of very realistic situations.  This includes not just situations you could encounter or the attacker's behavior, but also how you need think and respond.  I found this course to be self-challenging and really made me think differently should I ever encounter some of these situations.  You're own mental and physical boundaries will be challenged and pushed.  Above all, this course was FUN!!!  Thank you Ron for offering this and being a REALLY awesome instructor!!!  :-) Brigit D. 2019 ******************************** As a female, walking into Street Combatives can be intimating. During my first visit I was shown how absolutely terrifying an attack can be. BUT- I was also shown how to defend myself and take the attacker down!!  After this I was completely HOOKED. I attend classes regularly for months now. Best part is the teacher is extremely knowledgeable and patient with any questions I have. The classmates are amazing, and do not act as if they are better than you even though I have a lot less practice. I actually call the boys my brothers.  Love this place, highly recommend!!
